May is a busy month. There’s gardening and Mothers Day, birthdays and anniversaries, as well as the long weekend (coming up).
It’s not as busy as it used to be, though. Yesterday would have been my mother’s 96th birthday. As it was, she only made it through 87 years, narrowly missing her 88th birthday, having passed only a month prior. Cuppa’s dad was also a May baby as well as her brother and his wife. As I said, it was a busy and somewhat expensive month — and still is, just less so.
Today is also our anniversary — our 42nd to be exact. We were married on the Saturday of the long weekend in 1969. We have no particular plans for today but do plan to head out out on a wee excursion on the weekend. The aim is to visit an old friend who lives west of Toronto; we used to see her frequently but haven’t travelled that way for the past six years since we moved to Ottawa. If all goes well, including weather (the forecast for the next few days is awful), we’ll take a little spin along the Niagara Parkway as well. Lilacs and other blossoms should be in fine display (again, weather permitting). On the way home, our intention is to stop in to have a little visit with one or even two of Cuppa’s siblings.

May 17th, 1969 was a good day, and it’s been a good life ever since.
