Splendor in the Leaves

The weatherman is smiling upon us lately, so when the girl came home from school, I decided not to waste an opportunity, for this shall pass all too quickly. We set off into the woods (we call them that) behind the house, determined to find the pile of leaves that the boy and I had discovered last week. Please join us on our little adventure.

She has picked up a stick while he closely examines a milkweed plant that she had already investigated.

Glory be! We found the leaves. See how low the sun already is.

Meanwhile, the almost full moon was hanging out in the other quadrant.

Into the leaves with joy.

Toss the leaves with abandon.

Buried treasure.

Peekaboo Buppa.

Oh my sister! Your hood is full of leaves. It's true, I pulled out more than two handfuls. But we had fun! And that was the point.

Little outings like this with the munchkins make it all worth while.

As a bit of an after thought, here is a little video clip.

You are such a good grandfather–nothing children love more than a pile of leaves AND a grownup who says–sure, go ahead.
I especially love the photo of the two of them popping up their heads: peekaboo!

  2. Hahaaaaa…boys and sticks! Cute video Ac…also sweet photos…

Nice to see you guys in action!

I want this season to stretch out just a bit longer. I’m not ready for winter just yet.

  5. Hilary says:

Your grandkidlets are always just adorable. No, no no.. not the stick! 😉 Boys!

  6. AC, you are so right that these days will go all too quickly as we an already see the differences in our rands even though we’ve been lucky enough to see them both in July and then Oct, but not again until after the holidays, unfortunately.

  7. Diana says:

What wonderful memories these two will have because of their Buppa!! The photos were wonderful AC and the video, very cute. I’ll bet they slept good that night!!
    Love Di ♥

    Great photos.

The kids love playing in leaf piles here as well. Now if I can keep our dog (the yellow buffalo) from climbing on and then peeing on those leaf piles, I have done good.

  9. Ginnie says:

You have such a slew of wonderful pictures … perhaps you could literally wallpaper a complete room with them … what fun!

  10. Lorna says:

Or you could just paste the leaves on your living room wall.

  11. Ah, Nikkie Dee and the Boy’s most excellent adventure! What happy memories the three of you are creating! This post was a great way to start my day.

  12. Lady Fi says:

What delightful photos. There’s nothing quite like a leaf bath – no matter how old you are!

  13. Mara says:

The joy in her face is so infectious. And I completely understand too, last week I was kicking up a storm with all the leaves as well. My colleague wasn’t as amused…

  14. Kila says:

I love these 🙂 Classic and precious.

Boys and sticks, I know it well!

  15. Doris says:

Love the photos and the video. Did anyone ever tell you that you sound remarkably like the Friendly Giant? I thought I might see Rusty and Jerome poke their heads out of the leaves!
